HERB + DOROTHY: FAVORITE POWER COUPLE

I had heard about this legendary couple while living in New York City a few years back, right around the time the documentary came out about the charming duo.  If you haven't yet seen it, you should check it out on netflix.

Herb and Dorothy are famous in the New York art scene for amassing one of the most extensive collections of contemporary art (mostly from the 60's and 70's era) on the salaries of a postal worker and librarian. They became almost obsessive about their collecting and soon ran out of room in their tiny New York apartment. Luckily for us, they have broken up their collection into mini collections and are showcasing 50 pieces of art in each of the 50 states.  Austin, Texas just happens to be one of the chosen homes. Yay!

Expect to see work from: Lynda Benglis, Richard Tuttle, Stephen Antonakos, Robert Barry, Richard Nonas to name a few.

Date: June 10th through August 5
Admission on Thursday is free!

TREE HOUSES

Not sure what it is about tree houses, whether it's simply childhood nostalgia or a deep need to be closer to nature. All I know is that it seems like a good idea.
